What He/She Is Doing These Days: Live in the country on 7 acres gardening/farming/quilting. Travel quite a bit with spouse (hes an archeologist), possibly this summer to China (2nd trip). Hes also a life long fly fisherman & we have a 2nd home on 3 acres in Northern California on the Klamath (Steelhead/Salmon). Both homes are modest but when one has what one has always dreamed of (i.e. a home in the country and a fishing cabin), one feels rich. About His/Her Children: (We) I have one son, Ian, age 29. He started mountain bike racing in high school, switched to road racing at UC San Diego and spent two years after graduation racing CAT1(pro). Got tired of being poor, moved to Seattle in 1998, is still there. Works as a web designer for a small software company (WRQ). We see him often and feel really lucky to have him as our son. Highlights of the Last 40 Years: I graduated from UCR in March 69, married in Dec. 69. Worked for Riverside County as a social worker while my spouse attended graduate school at UCR. We moved to New York in Sept. 73. Our son was born there in May of 74. Bob taught at NYU until Sept. 1980, I taught preschool. We moved back to California in Sept. 1980. Bob continued his career At UC Davis. Weve been in Davis area ever since. I worked for Yalo County in social services until 1986, bought land, designed house, had it built Ive not worked since. I did go back to school in 97 and completed my Masters of Social Work in 99 at the age of 53! Its been 5 years and Ive still only used it in volunteer situations. The Way Things Ought to Be: The way they are. I wish: My brother Ken (PSHS 62) had not died in June of 2000. I wish: My son Ian had not been diagnosed with juvenile diabetes at the age of 16. I wish: Our country still felt welfare, health care, and Social Security were individual rights and not a social burden to be reduced as much as possible. |
